Filmmaker Pradeep Advaitham has come out in support of the controversy-ridden 'Peddi'. He praised the film's exploration of identity and dignity while also acknowledging that some of the criticism surrounding Janhvi Kapoor's track and certain dialogues holds merit. He also took a sharp dig at reviewers and called them "idiots."Pradeep Advaitham heaps praise on 'Peddi'Taking to Instagram to share his detailed review of the film, Pradeep Advaitham described 'Peddi' as a story that goes far deeper than its rural backdrop. He wrote, "What makes Peddi particularly relevant today is that beneath its rural setting lies a universal conflict — the fight for identity. Peddi's struggle to be seen, respected, and accepted mirrors the identity struggles we see in society today. In a time when individuals and communities are constantly seeking recognition for who they are, his journey feels very relevant and modern. His fight is not just personal — it reflects a larger human need for dignity, belonging, and self-respect."The 'Champion' director also praised Ram Charan for taking on such a rooted, grounded role and expressed deep admiration for director Buchi Babu Sana for backing an unconventional script and convincing a star of Charan's stature to be a part of it.Pradeep Advaitham slams reviewers but admits some flawsWhile firmly standing by the film, Pradeep Advaitham did not dismiss all of the criticism outright. He openly acknowledged that the heroine's track could have been handled better and that certain dialogues in the film may not work for all audiences. He wrote, "I agree with some of the criticisms. The heroine's track could have been better, and certain dialogues are problematic and may not work for everyone. But what made me think that many Telugu reviewers are idiots was the criticism questioning why the villagers continue to live there instead of moving to places like Vizianagaram or Bobbili."Towards the end, he added that the film actively highlights the discrimination and social realities faced by marginalised communities, making such criticism a sign of surface-level engagement with the material. The director urged critics to look beyond minute-by-minute observations and engage more seriously with the larger ideas that Buchi Babu Sana was attempting to communicate through the film.More about 'Peddi'Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, 'Peddi' released in theatres on June 4, 2026, and stars Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead roles, alongside Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyenndu, and Boman Irani.
