The clear winner among the four is Ravi Teja's Krack

Sankranti has long been a coveted time for filmmakers to release their movies. Film releases during Sankranti always carry get wide openings. On the other hand, too many releases on a festival weekend are not good for the business, as box-office collections get alienated. However, it’s quite interesting to see which film has performed better. The verdict for the four big films (Krack, RED, Master and Alludu Adhurs) that released for Pongal is out. Let’s see which the clear winner among the four releases is.

Ravi Teja's Krack

The clear winner among the four is Ravi Teja’s Krack. The film is said to have grossed approximately Rs. 31 crores in its five-day opening weekend. The share would be anywhere between Rs 20 to 25 crore. In his career spanning 30 years, this is Ravi Teja’s one of highest-ever openings. Krack, which was said to be a commercial action-ride, garnered positive reviews (mostly word-of-mouth) by all classes of the audience. Krack saw some big names on the screen, including Tamil actors Samuthirakani along with Varalaxmi Sarathkumar. It was directed by Gopichand Malineni with Thaman having composed the tunes for the film.

The other three releases— RED, Master and Alludu Adhurs — ended up eating into each other’s collections, as they had to share screens and shows. In all film territories across Telugu states, Krack was number one.

Vijay's Master

Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s Master, which has been directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, grossed an estimated Rs 9. 20 crore from its first week and emerged as one of the best opener of all time for a Vijay’s film. Vijay-Lokesh’s first collaboration has raised expectations with its chartbuster songs. The film has lived up to the enormous expectations and registered sensational collections. It has generated unanimous positive word of mouth and is likely to dominate the box office in all centres. Vijay Sethupathi, Malavika Mohanan, Arjun Das Andrea Jeremiah, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj and others were also part of Master.

Nivetha Pethuraj, Malvika Sharma and Amritha Aiyer played the female leads. RED opened to decent numbers on January 14.
