Ravanasura movie review highlights: This Ravi Teja-starrer's first half is a mixed bag

Sudheer Varma attempts what seems like an over-the-top masala film, Ravanasura, with Ravi Teja after the comparatively mellow Ranarangam and Saakini Daakini. But does it work is something that remains to be seen.


Starring Ravi Teja as a goofy junior advocate Ravindra, the film also sees Anu Emmanuel, Daksha Nagarkar, Faria Abdullah, Megha Akash, Pujita Ponnada and Sushanth A in key roles. A murder takes place with multiple people as witnesses. The murderer can't seem to remember the crime. Ravindra doesn't believe him but takes up the case for selfish reasons. But there seems to be more to him than just his silliness.


Ravanasura starts out as a usual run-of-the-mill entertainer, setting up characters that you don't know add to the story yet or not. As it progresses it slowly gets into the thick of things. However the transition into the main conflict of the film is jarring, so are some of the scenes that follow. Sudheer doesn't ease you into it, he goes full throttle while dialing up the crazy.


Vijay Karthik Kannan's cinematography is interesting at times, Harshavardhan Rameshwar's BGM is effective and Bheems Ceciroleo's music is okay with the songs interrupting the flow of the film instead of adding to it.


With the first half of the film ending on a somewhat awkward and surprising note, it remains to be seen how the second half will fare.
