The Virata Parvam and Aranya actor has been taking part in several webinars ever since the lockdown, making it clear that the digital medium will be the way forward for many filmmakers. He recently even walked the talk by letting Ravikanth Perepu’s

Krishna and His Leela

, a film he produced starring Siddhu Jonnalagadda, Shraddha Srinath, Seerat Kapoor and Shalini Vadnikatti, have a digital-release on two

OTT platforms

instead of waiting for theatres to reopen.

Speaking at a recent CII Lifestyle and Wellness Summit webinar chaired by Dr Jalachari Ella, Rana stated that the world is at its lowest when it comes to morale, due to the pandemic and the crashing economy, so now is the right time for artists to tell inspiring stories and shine. He further added that with

OTT

platforms,

independent filmmakers

will have a voice and their films will be fun to watch out for. While theatres, whenever they reopen, will continue to host big spectacles, the smaller filmmakers will have the power to create on OTTs.

Rana has been dropping hints about his animated talk show that is in the works and talking about the same, he said, “I felt this uncertainty is here to stay for a while so thinking of the long-term, I have planned backwards and was able to create a pipeline of animation projects for the next two years. I feel like I’ve found another job.” Adding how the film industry has continued working, he said, “All pre-productions happen online, no one has to meet. Even writing is something that happens at home, maybe in a creative and efficient manner now.”

During the lockdown, Rana was at home with family, finding the time to eat right and train consistently. “I decided to get married,” he says, referring to his fiancé

Miheeka Bajaj

, “It’s a good time for me and all of us in the family.” Talking about his diet, he adds, “My

diet

depends on what film I’m doing. Now it’s been neutral so I eat four meals a day. I don’t eat carbs after seven in the evening. Since it’s all

home-cooked

food, I’m keeping it clean and not eating much meat. Our family grows a lot of food, at home and even at our farm.”
