death in broad daylight became a sensation in both the Telugu states. In the aftermath of this horrific incident, Pranay’s wife
Amrutha started a social media campaign on Facebook titled ‘Justice for Pranay’. The page received over 1.2 million likes and is followed by the same number of people, with tributes pouring in from all corners of the country.
A handful of noted
celebrities
from Telugu cinema have reacted to this honour killing on their social media handles. Maverick filmmaker
Ram Gopal Varma took to twitter and blasted Amrutha’s father Maruti Rao who hired a professional killer to kill his son-in-law. RGV wrote, “Amrutha’s father Maruti Rao is just a plain cowardly dirty criminal and getting Pranay killed is nothing to do with his honour ..if it’s a honour killing he should be ready to die .. Real honour killing will be to kill all those who will kill for honour”.
Other than RGV, hero Ram,
Ram Charan, and
Manchu Manoj also raised their voices on the disgusting crime.
