Ram Gopal Varma, one of India's most influential filmmakers, recently opened up about his approach to sexual imagery in films. Despite being known for his controversial and boundary-pushing movies, RGV revealed that his feature films do not actually contain explicit sexual content.

RGV explained that he believes sexual imagery can be distracting in films and overpower the main point of the story. He cited his film Bhoot, where there was a small make-out scene between Ajay Devgn and Urmila Matondkar on a staircase, as the closest he has come to including explicit content. However, he noted that even in that instance, it was done to serve the context of the horror film.

The director, who is known for his outspoken nature, admitted that it is unusual for him to avoid sexual imagery in his films. He acknowledged that incorporating such elements can deviate from the core intensity of a film like 'Satya.'

RGV sees cinema primarily as a source of entertainment and believes that as long as a film holds the audience's interest and provokes an emotion, it is considered entertaining. He emphasized that, from his perspective, cinema is not about art but about engaging and connecting with the viewers.

In an interesting anecdote, RGV recalled a conversation with filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, who explained the difference between porn and erotica. Bhatt stated that the use of backlight and front light creates the distinction, while the actions depicted remain the same.

RGV reiterated that he makes films primarily for himself, and it just happens that others also enjoy them. He mentioned that he has always been the person he is now but may have been restricted in the past from fully expressing himself.

RGV's latest directorial venture was the Telugu political crime thriller 'Vyooham.' While opinions on his recent films may vary, this revelation about his approach to sexual imagery provides a new perspective on his filmmaking style and choices.
