Five years after debuting as an actor with Andala Rakshasi,
Rahul Ravindran is finally getting to do what he set out to do in the first place — make movies. “As far back as I can recall (since the time I was in class VII) I’ve always wanted to be a story teller. In fact I ventured into showbiz to become a director but then acting offers came my way instead, and I went with the flow,” he says adding, “However, in the last five years, I was always learning continuously on sets, picking up the nuances of film-making, the economics, the trade factors etc.”
Sushant is playing the lead in the ‘rom-com’ that is inspired by a real life incident.
“It’s a very realistic story that will resonate with every one. We’ll start shooting from November. Can’t wait to get started, I’m so excited,” he says.
Rahul is presently shooting for two films — Drishti, a racy-thriller directed by
Ram Abbaraju and a romantic drama, Howrah Bridge. Ask him if his acting career is going to take a backseat now that he’s concentrating on his career as a director, he says, “No. I’m happy that I’m being acknowledged as an actor instead of being labelled a bad one. I will continue to act and direct films too.”
