'Pushpa 2' director Sukumar visits 9-year-old boy injured in Sandhya theatre stampede, donates Rs 5 lakh

Director Sukumar recently paid a visit to nine-year-old Sri Tej, who remains critically ill after a stampede broke out during the screening of ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ on December 4. The boy, who is currently on a ventilator in a Hyderabad ICU, was injured in the chaos that ensued when Allu Arjun arrived at Sandhya Theatre, resulting in multiple casualties, including the death of his mother, Revathi.

According to India Today, during his visit on December 19, Sukumar met with Tej's family and offered his support, expressing his deep sympathy for their plight. He also spoke with the boy’s father, Baskhar, and assured him that the community stands by them during this challenging time.



Prior to this, on December 9, Sukumar and his wife made a substantial contribution of Rs 5 lakh to help with Sri Tej’s medical expenses. Allu’s father, producer Allu Aravind, visited the hospital on December 18 to provide an update on Tej's condition. He shared that the young boy has made some progress in the past ten days, although recovery will take longer. Aravind also acknowledged the help from both the government and the public, assuring the family of continuous support.


The tragic incident unfolded when Allu attended the screening of ‘Pushpa 2’ at Sandhya Theatre, causing a stampede. Tragically, Revathi passed away during the incident, while Sri Tej remains in serious condition.

In the aftermath, authorities filed cases against Sandhya Theatre and Allu. On December 13, Allu Arjun was arrested and placed in judicial custody. However, the Telangana High Court later granted him bail, allowing his release under a personal bond.

Allu has since explained that, due to legal proceedings, he was unable to visit Tej personally but expressed his sorrow for the incident.
