Puri Jagannath to remake Assembly Rowdy?

Ace director Puri Jagannath has never attempted a remake in his over decade long career. But indications are that the director is planning to remake Mohan Babu-starrer Assembly Rowdy. Starring Mohan Babu and Divya Bharathi in the lead, the movie went on to be a blockbuster in the nineties.
It is learnt that Vishnu Manchu is going to be playing the lead in the remake of the action drama set in the backdrop of politics.Initially Vishnu was keen on working with director B Gopal who directed the original. The actor apparently met Puri Jagannath and discussed the project. It is learnt that Puri Jagannath agreed to direct the film but insisted that he would rework the original script completely. To which Vishnu agreed.
However, there has been no official confirmation about the project. Puri is presently busy shooting for Heart Attack. An official confirmation is expected to come after the completion of Heart Attack.
