Prasanth Varma gives an update about 'Awe' sequel

’ which saw Kajal Aggarwal, Srinivas Avasarala, Nithya Menen, Eesha Rebba, Murli Sharma, Priyadarshi, Devadarshini and more in lead roles got tremendous response when it released in 2018.

More than the theatrical release, the film got positive response when it released on an online platform, with many checking out the film and reviewing it on social media. The film broke boundaries that Telugu cinema had not broken in recent times by talking of

mental health

, abuse,

gender

and sexualities. The film even paid homage to ‘Dialogue in the Dark’ in a scene, something no one has done before.

Since then, many have been curious if there’s a

sequel

to ‘Awe’ in store. And taking to social media, director Prasanth finally cleared doubts when he wrote, “For everyone who has been asking me about #Awe2…Thank you so much for your interest in the project. I have finished writing the script almost an year back and it’s much more crazier than #Awe.” (sic) He added, “But, I couldn’t mount it cause I couldn’t find a producer whose craziness matches that of the script’s. Trust me guys..I really tried. So it happens when it happens.”


Nani and his sister Prashanti Tipirneni had produced ‘Awe’ but looks like they aren’t on-board for the sequel. There’s also buzz that Prasanth is awaiting a nod from Akhil Akkineni to direct his next after ‘Kalki’.
