Prabhas starrer 'Kalki 2898 AD' to release in Japan in January; details inside

'Kalki 2898 AD', featuring an impressive cast including Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan, became one of the biggest releases of the year. Directed by Nag Ashwin, this mythological sci-fi epic is now set for a grand release in Japan.

The announcement was made recently that the film will be released in Japan on January 3, 2025. Sharing the news a new Japanese poster was also shared on social media.

The film has grossed over Rs 1,200 crore globally since its release in June 2024. Moreover, Prabhas enjoys significant popularity in Japan, which has also helped the film's performance in this new market. His popularity's impact can be anticipated as during the initial release of the film many fans from Japan travelled to India to get the first hand experience of the film. Earlier this month, a Russian-dubbed version of 'Kalki 2898 AD' was released, with plans for a Chinese version also in the works.

The film is based in a dystopian world where the prophesied tenth avatar of Lord Vishnu, is destined to confront Yaskin, played by Kamal Haasan. Yaskin is depicted as the supreme leader ruling over a post-apocalyptic world. Prabhas is seen as a bounty hunter who is determined to get a place in the Complex.

The film also features Disha Patani, Rajendra Prasad and others in the supporting cast. It also includes star-studded cameos.
