Trisha,
Samantha,
Manju Warrier and
Taapsee Pannu came together to release the teaser of the much-awaited Penguin on Monday.
Written and directed by
Eashvar Karthic, the film sees
Keerthy Suresh play a mother and will stream on an OTT platform in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam from June 19. “Happy to release the teaser of #Penguin. A Powerful tale of a Mother's rise to a situation when her nightmares come true. Best wishes @KeerthyOfficial @karthiksubbaraj #PenguinOnPrime on June 19 PrimeVideoIN,” (sic) wrote Taapsee sharing the teaser.
The teaser shows a story set in the hills with Keerthy Suresh seemingly playing the mother of a toddler who is missing. Penguin also seems to have a touch of psychological and gory horror if the ending shot of the teaser is anything to go by. The trailer of Penguin will release on June 11 and fans seem to be excited to see more, based on the comments they leave under the teaser. Penguin is one of the films that were supposed to have a theatrical release but opted for OTT once the coronavirus pandemic put shoots and film releases on hold.
Penguin is only one of the exciting projects Keerthy Suresh has lined up. The actress will also soon be seen in Narendra Nath’s Miss India, Nagesh Kukunoor’s debut Telugu film Good Luck Sakhi, Venky Atluri’s Rang De, apart from Tamil and Malayalam films. Penguin is produced by
Karthik Subbaraj and was simultaneously shot in Telugu and Tamil both. The film sees eerie music by Santhosh Narayan and shoot for the film was wrapped up in November last year.
With Amrutharamam being the first theatrical film opting for OTT release, Penguin becomes the second Telugu film to do so. RUN also became the first direct-OTT release Telugu film recently during lockdown. The posters of Penguin had created intrigue as they saw Keerthy Suresh sport a baby bump. With the teaser too left on a cliffhanger and hinting that Keerthy Suresh's character's son Ajay has been harmed it remains to be seen how the trailer and the movie will fare.
