Director
Harish Shankar’s film ‘Ustaad Bhagat Singh’, starring
Pawan Kalyan, will be released in theatres on March 19. The movie will also face competition from ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, which stars Ranveer Singh and is directed by Aditya Dhar. Both films are expected to attract huge crowds in the Telugu states during the festive weekend.
Andhra Pradesh government gives permission
The Andhra Pradesh government has passed a GO for Ustaad Bhagat Singh. This order allows the film to have a benefit show instead of a premiere, as per a Hindustan Times report. Initially, there were reports that the movie would have its premiere shows on March 18, just like ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’. But according to the new order, the benefit shows will begin on March 19. The shows can start very early in the morning, around 4 AM or 5 AM. Ticket prices for these benefit shows are fixed at Rs 500.
Ticket prices increased for 10 days
It is said that the government has also allowed theatres to increase ticket prices for the first 10 days after release. Single-screen theatres can increase ticket prices by Rs 100, while multiplex theatres can increase prices by Rs 125. Theatres are also allowed to run five shows per day with the hiked ticket rates. The makers had applied to the state government for these permissions. After reviewing the request, the government gave approval.
Telangana may not allow ticket hike
Interestingly, things may be different in Telangana. In the past, ticket hikes were not allowed for some films after a court ruling. For Pawan Kalyan’s previous film ‘They Call Him OG’, a GO allowed ticket hikes in the state. But the Telangana High Court later struck down that order. Because of that ruling, makers may not apply for ticket hikes in Telangana this time. For now, theatres in Telangana are expected to start shows from 7 AM without ticket hikes.
Speaking of ‘Ustaad Bhagat Singh’, it is a cop action thriller which marks the reunion of Harish Shankar and Pawan Kalyan after ‘Gabbar Singh’. The features of Sreeleela and Raashii Khanna as female leads.Get the latest entertainment updates from the Times of India, along with the
