A day before Palasa 1978 hit screens, director
Karuna Kumar was a happy man, as his film had received applauds already from those who had seen it and what’s more,
Allu Aravind had handed over a cheque, signing him on for a second film with Geetha Arts.
Before that, Karuna Kumar had ghost-written many hit films and some flops too, even if Prasanth Varma’s Awe was his first writing credit.
Palasa 1978 had its run before theatres were shut down due to the on-going coronavirus pandemic. Later, there was a lot of buzz that Karuna Kumar’s next will see Dr Rajasekhar in the lead role. A web-portal however quoted the director as stating that it’s not true.
According to reports, Karuna Kumar admitted to have given a narration to the Kalki star, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
Jeevitha is however said to have shown an interest in the film which will apparently be a remake of a hit Malayalam film. But what’s reportedly confirmed is that he is doing a bank robbery thriller with
Sudheer Babu. The same will be a direct-OTT release for Allu Aravind’s web portal Aha and will be part of Metro Stories which also star Rajeev Kanakala, Varun Sandesh and more.
After Palasa’s release, Karuna Kumar is apparently a busy man with numerous producers approaching him for a film. But with five scripts in hand and a hectic schedule, the director is said to be a busy man. Apart from films with Geetha Arts and Sitara Entertainments, Karuna Kumar will reportedly sign a film with Anil Sunkara too.
