'Operation Gold Fish' movie review highlights: A melodramatic and jingoistic first half

Sai Kiran Adivi's Aadi, Sasha Chettri, Anish Kuruvilla, Manoj Nandam, Karthik Raju, Parvateesam, Nitya Naresh, Krishnudu, Rao Ramesh, Kedar Shankar starrer 'Operation Gold Fish' finally hit screens today.

Pakala and editing by Garry BH (who's also one of the producers of the film). Arjun Pandit (Aadi Saikumar) is a NSG Commando who has survived the aftermath of the massacre Kashmiri pandits have experienced and has grown up with the aim of nabbing Ghazi Baba (Abburi Ravi), a main accused held responsible for it. Tanya (Sasha Chettri), Karthik (Karthik Raju), Solomon (Parvateesam) and Nitya (Nitya Naresh) are college freshers with one of their life being under threat. How all their paths cross forms the crux of the tale.

When the word 'anti-Indian' is used more than once in the first half, you know exactly where this film is heading. Dank jokes about bras and intercourse not withstanding, the film's basic plot flirts on the edge of being 'Main Hoon Na', but thankfully does just enough to set itself apart. With the tones of both halves of the storyline being polar opposites, the way it transitions from one to another is jarring too. Everything about the film so far has been melodramatic, over-the-top and cliché, it remains to be seen how the second half will fare.
