Meanwhile, there have already been speculations that Puri Jagan has lifted the core plot of ‘iSmart Shankar’ from the British science-fiction thriller ‘
iBoy
’. The Adam Randall directorial which is based on Kevin Brooks’ book by the same name tells the story of a teenager who wakes from coma only to discover that fragments from his broken smartphone have been embedded into his brain and turned him into an actualized app with superhuman powers.
Responding to these allegations in a promotional interview,
Puri Jagannadh has clarified that it was only
inspiration
, but not copy. “Yes, I was inspired by a few Hollywood films while penning down the script of iSmart Shankar. But I didn’t copy any film. You will certainly understand the difference when you watch the movie.”
Jointly bankrolled by Puri and Charmee Kaur, the plot of ‘iSmart Shankar’ revolves around an aggressive street-smart guy who gets a mobile SIM card inserted into his head under mysterious circumstances. Starring bombshells like
Nabha Natesh and
Nidhhi Agerwal as the leading ladies, the film is slated to hit the theaters on July 18.
