SS Rajamouli known for his blockbusters like 'Baahubali' and 'RRR' recently shared a powerful message about India's strong storytelling heritage where mentioned India has been a land of storytellers for thousands of years, with millions of tales drawn from ancient texts like the Puranas and Itihasas.
While speaking at the inaugural World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025 in Mumbai today, May 1 the ace director spoke about the richness of India’s diverse languages-each with centuries of history-and the countless traditional art forms that contribute to an infinite pool of stories. He described storytelling as deeply embedded in India’s DNA, asserting that no other country in the world matches India’s vibrant and rich culture of narrative arts.
According to a Pinkvilla report, Rajamouli pointed out that India has yet to fully establish itself on the international entertainment stage, lagging behind countries like the USA, South Korea, and China. However, he expressed his confidence in India's potential, stating that the country only needs a proper launchpad to showcase its storytelling prowess to the world. He expressed hope that WAVES would be this crucial platform to elevate Indian media and entertainment globally.
He said, "We have so many languages in our country—each language has a history of hundreds of years. We have millions of stories from our histories, and we have countless art forms—hundreds of them. So, hundreds into billions—our stories are infinite."
The WAVES Summit, held at Mumbai’s Jio World Convention Centre, is a landmark event aiming to position India as a global hub for media, entertainment, and digital innovation. Alongside Rajamouli, the summit has attracted a star-studded lineup including Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Mohanlal, Naga Chaitanya, Sobhita Dhulipala, and many others.
On the work front, SS Rajamouli is currently working with Superstar Mahesh Babu on their next mega film, tentatively called, 'SSMB29'. The movie also stars Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran as leads.
