Nithya Menen: Filmmakers always kill me for an emotional high
How many times have we seen Nithya Menen die on screen? Countless times. From Vijay’s ‘Mersal’ and Vikram’s ‘Iru Mugan’ to Suriya’s ‘24’. Her characters, which she played with disarming candour, were the ones that stayed with the audience. However Nithya admits that it does annoy her to be killed so often, yet somehow she ends up doing such roles again and again.

The actress who was last seen in Prasanth Varma’s ‘AWE’ as Krisha a.k.a Krishnaveni, said that she decided not to do another film in which she is going to die. It bothered her that the directors use her character and then kill her for an emotional high. But then she got an offer from Atlee for Mersal. Her character, Aishwarya Vetrimaaran, was again fated to die. And like usual, she signed the movie and ended up dying on screen.
On the work front, the actress is busy shotting for her next, ‘Praana’, a multilingual film to be released in Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. According to reports, the experimental film directed by VKP Prakash will only have Nithya Menen occupying the screen space.
