All set to debut in Tollywood with the Telugu-Kannada bilingual, Jaguar, former PM Deve Gowda's grandson
Nikhil Kumar is ecstatic. 'my mother has Telugu roots and I have watched a lot of Telugu films. Even though getting a hang of the accent and nuances of the language was a challenge, I am glad I pulled it off. I am excited about reaching out to both Telugu and Kannada audiences through this film,' he says.
Jaguar is penned by writer K Vijayendra Prasad, whose films Bahubali and
Bajrangi Bhaijaan, won laurels at the recent National Awards. and Nikhil is gung ho about his character sketch, which sees him in two different avatars. 'It's a very interesting revenge drama where I play a happy college student. And then, I am seen seeking revenge in the other part of the film,' he shares, adding that debut director Mahadev, an ex-associate of Rajamouli, has given the story a spin of his own.
Interestingly, Nikhil will be seen in a mask and an armour in the film. So, is he playing a superhero? 'Though I get to wear a costume, my character doesn't have any inherent powers. I am more like Batman, making my own powers. I am lucky to be able to play a role like this in the first film. How many people actually get an opportunity like this? I have seen the costume and it looks splendid,' says the actor, adding that he can't wait to begin shooting for the 'superhero' bit.
