The film, which released this Friday, features
Nani and
Nazriya Nazim Fahadh in the lead roles, and the director is pleased with the way the audience has received the film. “The response from the audience has been overwhelming. I knew that people would get hooked to this
story
, but many told me that they were moved by the film. I didn’t expect that,” says Vivek.
Ante Sundaraniki tells the story of two childhood friends,
Sundar Prasad and
Leela Thomas, who try to convince their conservative families to accept an
inter-religion
union. “I chose to tell this story through Sundar’s eyes with a non-linear narrative to spice things up, and it looks like it paid off. I’ve been told that people are rolling with laughter by the time the second half of the film rolls,” he says.
Vivek credits the film’s success not just to his technical team but also to his lead actors. “I absolutely cannot imagine this film without Nani or Nazriya. We were very keen on casting these two as the leads, and they really breathed life into the characters. Ante Sundaraniki has something in it for everyone and must be experienced in theatres,” he adds.
