Lakshmi Manchu once stirred the internet by revealing the existence of a large WhatsApp group comprising around 143 Telugu stars—including Ram Charan, Allu Arjun, and Rana Daggubati—created to foster camaraderie and facilitate film promotions. However, actor Nani has now spoken about the secret group, which he keeps on ‘mute’.
In a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Nani shared that the group is no longer very active. He acknowledged that the group did exist but added that it no longer functions. “I don’t think it exists anymore. Or maybe it does, but I’m not on it anymore. That group used to be quite active at one point, but now it isn’t, as many people changed their numbers and such. I don’t know the exact reason, but it naturally drifted.”
Nani explained that the intention behind creating the group was to keep everyone connected and in touch. “We used to share jokes and things. It was like any general friends’ group—nothing extraordinary like ‘save the country’ or anything like that,” he said.
He also admitted that around 10 years ago, they used to share film-related updates in that group, which helped promote trailers and teasers on social media.
Nani confessed to keeping the group on mute due to the sheer volume of messages. “The group included a lot of actors. I always used to put it on mute. All the time, someone or the other used to react to something—it was causing a distraction. Humein kaam bhi toh karna chahiye (We also have to work),” he said.
The 'Hi Nanna' actor added that the group was constantly flooded with messages, and he used to have around 62 unread ones. “Whenever I opened it, there would be about 100 messages to go through. You just ignore it because you know you’re not really a part of it,” he stated.
Nani is currently gearing up for the release of his much-awaited film 'HIT 3', which is set to hit theatres on May 1.
