'Akhanda 2', starring
Nandamuri Balakrishna, was all set to release on Friday, December 5. For weeks, the film crew had been promoting the film extensively in both the Telugu states, raising the expectations of the fans to the highest level. Everything was going according to plan until a few hours before the premiere screenings were to begin, when the film was suddenly postponed. Although the production team attributed the reason to “technical issues beyond our control,” celebrities and industry sources pointed out that there was a much larger legal issue behind this.

As per News 18, the reason is an official statement issued by Eros International the day before the film's release. In it, it was stated that the
Madras High Court had issued an order to ban the release of 'Akhanda 2'. 14 Reels Entertainment, the makers of 'Akhanda 2', had to pay Rs. 28 crore in a long-pending arbitration award case against Eros. After considering this, a two-judge bench comprising Justices S.M. Subramaniam and Kumarappan issued a temporary restraining order prohibiting the release of the film Akhanda 2 in any form.

Makers work to explore immediate release options
Following this, 14 Reels production company released an emotional note on the X platform on Thursday night. “With a heavy heart, we regret to inform you that #Akhanda2 will not be releasing as scheduled due to unavoidable circumstances.
This is a painful moment for us, and we truly understand the disappointment it brings to every fan and movie lover awaiting the film. We are working tirelessly to resolve the matter at the earliest. Our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused. Your support means the world to us. We promise to share a positive update very soon," they said, apologizing for taking away the joy that fans had been waiting for. They assured that everything would be done to resolve the issue as soon as possible and that they would provide a positive update soon. Meanwhile, the makers are reportedly still fighting to bring 'Akhanda 2' to big screens, and the film might see a release from night shows on December 5 or a morning start on December 6.
