'Akhanda 2', starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, was all set to release on Friday, December 5. For weeks, the film crew had been promoting the film extensively in both the Telugu states, raising the expectations of the fans to the highest level. Everything was going according to plan until a few hours before the premiere screenings were to begin, when the film was suddenly postponed. Although the production team attributed the reason to “technical issues beyond our control,” celebrities and industry sources pointed out that there was a much larger legal issue behind this.

Eros cites Rs. 28-crore arbitration dispute with 14 Reels Entertainment

As per News 18, the reason is an official statement issued by Eros International the day before the film's release. In it, it was stated that the Madras High Court had issued an order to ban the release of 'Akhanda 2'. 14 Reels Entertainment, the makers of 'Akhanda 2', had to pay Rs. 28 crore in a long-pending arbitration award case against Eros. After considering this, a two-judge bench comprising Justices S.M. Subramaniam and Kumarappan issued a temporary restraining order prohibiting the release of the film Akhanda 2 in any form.
