Nandamuri Balakrishna on 'Daaku Maharaaj': 'My second innings starts here'

Veteran Telugu actor Nandamuri Balakrishna is set to make a grand return to the big screen with his upcoming film 'Daaku Maharaaj', which is scheduled for a Sankranthi release. The film recently held its pre-release event in the USA, where Balayya shared insights about his career, spirituality, and how he perceives success in the film industry.

During the event, as per a Gulte report, Balakrishna recalled his journey in cinema and how he was introduced to the industry by his legendary father, NTR. He expressed gratitude for the inspiration he drew from his father and that he has become a self-made star over the years. Balayya stated that this new phase in his career feels like a "second inning," marking a fresh chapter after delivering three consecutive blockbuster films: 'Akhanda,' 'Veerasimha Reddy,' and 'Bhagavanth Kesari'. He noted that, unlike many actors who transition to character roles in their later careers, he sees this as an opportunity to continue leading in significant roles.

Balayya said, "Unlike many actors who start their second innings as character artists, I am taking this as an opportunity as my second innings after delivering three blockbusters and winning three consecutive times as Hindupur MLA".

Addressing criticism he has faced throughout his career, Balakrishna said that he remains unbothered by negative comments. He believes that age has granted him the wisdom to make better decisions regarding the stories he chooses to tell on screen. He recalled a time in 1986 when he delivered seven blockbusters in a single year.

In 'Daaku Maharaaj', Balakrishna portrays a dacoit who is striving to establish his own territory while battling powerful adversaries. Directed by Bobby Kolli, the film is set to hit theaters on January 12, 2025.
