Nambi Narayanan biopic will have no heroine: Madhavan
When the news of Supreme Court awarding `50 lakh compensation to former ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan in the 1994 espionage case broke last month, actor R Madhavan was fast asleep in his house. But the actor, who is playing the famed aerospace engineer in the upcoming biopic, Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, was soon woken up as his mobile phone started buzzing incessantly.
“I was bombarded with messages and calls and was surprised to see 150 unread messages in my inbox. Initially, I couldn’t figure out why so many people were suddenly congratulating me. But when I found out, I was delighted, since I have great respect for Nambi,” Maddy recalled, speaking to Hyderabad Times on the sidelines of a recent golf event.
Madhavan is happy that the teaser of the space thriller has been well received by movie buffs. “I am also co-directing the movie with Anant Mahadevan and things have been really hectic for me. We’ll start shooting for the movie in April next year in Chennai,” informs the actor, adding that the movie will focus on all the aspects of the scientist’s life, including the time he spent in jail.
The much-awaited biopic will be a multi-lingual film featuring actors from Hindi, Telugu and Tamil film industries. “We are mulling over a few names but are yet to decide on the actors. Now that the shoot is scheduled in April, we still have a few months to zero in on the names. But there won’t be any leading lady as such because the story doesn’t have much scope for a heroine,” he shared.
Madhavan recently made his Tollywood debut as villain in the Naga Chaitanya-starrer Savyasachi. Even though the film tanked, he remains upbeat. “The movie didn’t do well for us but then again, it's all part of the game,” Madhavan added, signing off.
