Producer Naga Vamsi’s production house backed the recent movie 'Mad Square', which hit theatres on March 28. While the first film garnered acclaim, the sequel received a mixed reception from both critics and audiences. Now, Vamsi has addressed the criticism.
Vamsi engaged with the media to address a variety of topics, including the feedback the film received. In response to negative reviews, he reiterated his long-standing view that reviews represent personal opinions. “You mustn’t consider reviews as a result of an election where a result means things are decided for everyone. In films, everyone can have their own individual opinion, and it is still valid,” he said.
The producer was also vocal about accusations that the media was against him or his films, challenging them to take a more extreme stance if they were truly dissatisfied. “If you hate me that much, ban my films, don’t write about them, and don’t take advertisements from me. If you do that, I will then promote my film and show how I can do the same without that support,” he remarked.
Vamsi defended Mad Square's box office numbers, challenging anyone who doubted the figures to provide proof of inflation. He confirmed the film had grossed Rs 70 crore and hoped it would eventually reach the Rs 100 crore mark.
Directed by Kalyan Shankar, Mad Square hit theatres on March 28 and features a stellar cast, including Priyanka Jawalkar, Vishnu Oi, Sunil, Subhalekha Sudhakar, and Satyam Rajesh. The movie stands as a sequel to the 2023 film 'Mad', starring Narne Nithiin, Sangeeth Sobhan, Ram Nithin, Sri Gouri Priya, and Ananathika Sanilkumar in key roles.
