Naga Babu admits daughter Niharika Konidela's failed marriage was their mistake: 'They weren't happy and didn't want to stay together'

Actor-turned-producer Nagendra Babu has finally broken his silence about his daughter Niharika Konidela’s divorce. Niharika, who made her debut with Oka Manasu in 2016, tied the knot with Chaitanya Jonnalagadda in 2020, and the duo got divorced in 2023.

In a recent interview with Deccan Chronicle, Naga Babu reflected on the challenges faced by Niharika in her personal life. Naga Babu shared,

“Niharika and I often talk about everything. I never intervene in my children's careers. I don't care if my children's movies are hits or flops; their happiness is my priority. What's the point of having crores if they aren't happy?”

He also spoke about his son, actor Varun Tej Konidela, and his marriage to actress and long-term girlfriend Lavanya Tripathi. Naga said he had asked Varun whether he would be happy in the future if he married Lavanya, when Varun first revealed their relationship. Varun was confident that they would be happy together, and Naga approved of their marriage. He is now pleased to see Varun and Lavanya leading a peaceful life.

Naga admitted he was mistaken in assessing Niharika’s marital path. “My judgement was wrong. That marriage was our mistake. We couldn't judge it properly. We didn't force the marriage; when the proposal came, she said yes, and we thought it would be good,” he revealed.


He also stated that the separation between Niharika and Chaitanya was amicable. “They weren't happy and didn't want to stay together, and I was okay with their decision,” he added.

He also shared that Niharika is currently busy producing films and might marry someone else at some point in her life. Niharika made her debut as a producer with the 2024 rural drama 'Committee Kurrollu'. Made on a modest budget with newcomers, the film explored themes of friendship, loyalty, politics, and rural culture.
