Nag Ashwin thanks volunteers and social workers for helping migrant labourers get back home

Director Nag Ashwin has been on the trying to bring to attention the troubles that stranded

migrant workers

are facing ever since the lockdown was announced.

He had been constantly posting for help. A few days ago he had posted about workers stranded in LB Nagar and Medchal and pleaded for help. He took to Twitter and wrote, “Hi...yes there r trains but not enough...thousands are waiting and thousands more can't wait anymore...around 10k ppl near medchal and lb nagar. trying to organise

buses

for them...we can help, pls suggest companies or ppl who can give or organise or help...#Letsgetthemhome”

Today, he took to his Instagram to thank the volunteers who helped migrant workers from the city reach their homes using donations from him and other people. He wrote, “Everything becomes numbers…so many cases, so many deaths, so many migrants.. just faceless statistics for most of us… Thanks to the tireless work of Vanaja, Srinivas, Sajja, Satyavati, Naveen, Chaitanya pingali and so many more beautiful people, these numbers were treated like the humans they are… Almost 10 buses have been arranged through contributions from us at Vyjayanthi, the volunteers themselves and many of you…there are tens of thousands more out there, but thank you for getting a few numbers home” (sic) Fans have appreciated him for his efforts while many have also come forward to donate to covid relief.
