The musician was rushed to a hospital in

Banjara Hills

after he complained of pain in his chest. After undergoing an immediate angioplasty surgery, he is in stable condition.

Preetam

had myocardial infraction and needed the surgery. However, with several

rumours

doing rounds about his health, Shashi Preetam had to issue a clarification, despite his ill health.

In a video shared by his spokesperson, he says, “I suffered from a heart attack on the fourth of this month. My friend admitted me to a hospital in Banjara Hills immediately. The doctors there diagnosed that I had a block in my heart and saved me from having a massive heart attack. They performed angioplasty and have placed a stent in my heart.” Adding that he’s doing well now, he says, “I am ready to be discharged today. I thank everyone wishing for my speedy recovery.” His doctor too confirmed the same, adding that he was kept in 24-hour observation in the ICU and has recovered fast without any ill effect to his body functionality.

Shashi Preetam made his debut as a music composer with Gulabi in 1995, helmed by Krishna Vamsi and starring JD Chakravarthy and Maheswari in lead roles. The songs from the film remain iconic even today. The next film he composed for was

Samudram

in 1999, starring Jagapathi Babu, Sakshi Shivanand, Srihari, Prakash Raj and Ravi Teja, also directed by Krishna Vamsi. His last work was for the Hindi film, Mani Shankar’s spy thriller

Mukhbiir

in 2008 which was actor Ali Reza’s first Bollywood movie.
