Mohan Babu can retain Padma Shri

The supreme court, on Monday, ruled out an order from the High Court asking actor Mohan Babu to return the civilian honour of Padma Shri. The order in contention was earlier passed by Hyderabad High Court after BJP leader N Indrasena Reddy filed a petition against the actor alleging that he was misusing the title. The row stemmed from the fact that the actor was using the title as a prefix to his name, which is a violation of the norm.Mohan Babu challenged the December 2013 ruling in the Apex Court. The actor had also submitted an affidavit that he would not misuse the award as a suffix or a prefix to his name. The actor has now been allowed by the SC to retain the honour.
