Director Mahesh Babu P's Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty, starring Anushka Shetty and Naveen Polishetty, is a rom-com with a twist.
Masterchef Anvitha Ravali Shetty (Anushka Shetty) is happy single and doesn't want to get married. She doesn't believe she needs a life partner because she's self-sufficient. Her mom (Jayasudha) is dying and worries she'll be lonely after her passing. Anvitha decides to become a mother so she's less lonely.
By chance, she comes across a stand-up comedian called Sidhu Polishetty (Naveen Polishetty) right when she's looking for a perfect sperm donor. She thinks he fits the bill perfectly, he thinks she's interested in dating him and falls for her. When things come to a head in the first half of the film, Anvitha springs her surprise.
The first half of the film doesn't offer much in terms of novelty, it even feels a little stretched. If you've seen the film's trailer, you already know how this is gonna go. Naveen generates some light-hearted moments, thanks to his dialogue delivery, but the rest is as straightforward as they come. It remains to be seen if Mahesh will inject some freshness in the second half.
