​'Manjummel Boys', 'Leo', 'Vikram': 5 latest films that reintroduce old movie songs from 90s

Recent films from both South and Bollywood have been using a lot of old classic tracks and songs in their films. These songs undoubtedly cater to a wide audience and help the films get noticed easily. Malayalam's film, 'Manjummel Boys', Bollywood's film, 'Crew', and more have used this trick recently. Let's take a look at movies that have used old evergreen hits in their films, which helped them garner attention.

​'Manjummel Boys'

Directed by Chidambaram S Poduval, 'Manjummel Boys' had a reference from Kamal Haasan's 1991 film 'Gunaa'. The film took the hit song 'Kanmani Anbodu Kadhalan' by Ilaiyaraaja. Kamal Haasan's starrer was shot in Guna Cave in Kodaikanal. In the latest Malayalam movie, they took a real-life incident that happened in the Guna Cave and used the Tamil song, which helped garner much attention among the Tamil audience. The movie crossed almost Rs 200 crore at the box office.

​'Jailer'


In Rajinikanth starrer 'Jailer', they used the song 'Taal Se Taal' from the 1999 movie 'Taal', starring Aishwarya Rai, Akshaye Khanna, and Anil Kapoor. The song added extra masala to Rajinikanth's action scenes in the movie. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, 'Jailer' has music by Anirudh Ravichander.

​'Mark Antony'


In 2023 Vishal and S. J. Suryah starrer 'Mark Antony', the makers used a song from the 1997 film 'Ettupatti Rasa', starring Napoleon, Khushbu, and Urvashi. The song 'Panju Mittai' was used in a fight scene for 'Mark Antony'. Directed by Adhik Ravichandran, the film boasts music by G. V. Prakash Kumar.

​'Vikram'


Lokesh Kanagaraj's 'Vikram', starring Kamal Haasan, had a track from the 1995 movie 'Asuran', starring Arun Pandian and Roja. The song 'Chakku Chakku Vathikuchi' played a vital part in the Kamal Haasan starrer in 2022.

​'Leo'


In the 2023 Lokesh Kanagaraj's 'Leo', they used the song 'Karu Karu Karupayi' from the 2000 Tamil film 'Eazhaiyin Sirippil'. Thalapathy Vijay's charming appearance to the 2000 song created a special acceptance for the song after two decades.
