Manchu Manoj admits being a nepo kid is not enough to survive in Tollywood: 'We’ve seen how Vijay Sethupathi can play both...'

Actor Manchu Manoj recently made a comeback with his film 'Bhairavam' after a long hiatus. Vishnu, son of Mohan Babu, recently spoke about his journey in the Telugu film industry and how he struggled, despite being a ‘nepo kid’.

Speaking at the pre-release event of Suhas’ upcoming film Oh Bhama Ayyo Rama, Manoj showered praise on the actor for carving his own path in the industry.

Manoj made his acting debut in 2004 with Donga Dongadi. He stepped away from the limelight following Okkadu Migiladu in 2017. Manoj acknowledged the hurdles he has faced despite his background. He also recognised Suhas’ inspiring journey, especially with the success of Ambajipeta Marriage Band and Uppu Kappurambu.



“Suhas is a very close friend of mine; he’s like a brother. I love him for always having a smile on his face and radiating positivity. He started his career on YouTube and has come this far. Everyone says you can only be in the film industry if you have a background—and I agree, it does help. As a nepo kid, cheptunnanu, ikada pappulu udakav (As a nepo kid, I am telling you—it’s not enough). You need to struggle to stay afloat.”

Manoj called Suhas an inspiration for many and drew a comparison with Vijay Sethupathi. “We’ve seen how Vijay Sethupathi can play both a hero and a character artist in Tamil cinema. I think in Telugu, we have Suhas—you have all the chances. Nothing in this industry comes easily, but if you work hard and remain focused, you can find success like Suhas did.”

Suhas recently shared screen space with Keerthy Suresh in Uppu Kappurambu. He will next be seen in Cable Reddy and Anandrao Adventures. His film Oh Bhama Ayyo Rama is set to hit theatres on 11 July.

Meanwhile, Manoj has two exciting projects lined up—Mirai, in which he shares screen space with Teja Sajja, and What The Fish, co-starring Niharika Konidela.

His brother Vishnu Manchu was recently seen in mythological drama film, 'Kannappa' which including a star cast including Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, Mohanlal and others in brief roles. It was released on June 27.
