makes for an intriguing background score for the pop coloured visuals in the trailer of Mana Oori Ramayanam. Replete with edgy cinematography, a hitherto unseen rustic settings, and quirky Ramayana analogies, the movie sure looks unlike anything the Telugu cinema audience have seen, in the recent past, at least. So what should a viewer expect from the movie? Prakash Raj, the director and protagonist of the film, says

Mana Oori Ramayanam

is a “comedy-thriller”. “It isn’t your everyday whodunnit thriller. The movie explores the duality of the human nature. How we nurture both Rama and

Ravana

within ourselves,” explains Prakash Raj, adding, “The story revolves around the struggles Bujangaiah (Prakash Raj’s character) goes through to hide the Ravana in himself. That is the thrilling aspect of the movie.”

Explaining the rationale behind title of the movie, Prakash Raj says, “The characters in

Ramayanam

basically reflect the gunalu (qualities) in a human being and the movie explores just that — human emotions.”

The plot unfolds in a small town — a town that does not have a name in the movie because it is just an “ooru everyone can relate to”. “People in cities don’t care what other people think — they don’t have time to talk to their neighbours either. But in small towns, your reputation is very important. And people can go to any length to save it, which is what the movie is all about” explains Prakash, as he signs off.

Mana Oori Ramayanam, released by

Abhishek Pictures

, is releasing on October 7.
