Malli Raava movie review highlights: A promising first half

Directed by debutant Gowtam Tinnanuri, 'Malli Raava' charts the lives of Karthik and Anjali, played by Sumanth and Akanksha Singh when adults and Sathwik and Preeti in childhood. The first half of the movie makes it clear right in the beginning that the two have broken up despite almost getting married. Anjali dumps Karthik right on their wedding day and the reasons are left unknown till interval.
The film jumps time zones between 1999 when they were 13, to 2012 when they met again and were about to be married and finally in 2017 when Anjali is about to tie the knot with someone else. Interspersed with beautiful songs and nostalgic moments that everyone can relate to, ‘Malli Raava’ has been a bitter-sweet journey so far. The naive and unadulterated beauty of first love when they're children and how it changes during adulthood as reality of life dawns, come through beautifully on screen.
It remains to be seen why Anjali broke up with Karthik on their wedding day and if she will ever get back with him in the second half.
