In a sad turn of events, Tollywood director Kumar Vatti, who made his directorial debut with the 2017 film ''Maa Abbayi'', passed away due to novel coronavirus on Thursday. He was 39. Director Venu Udugula of ''Needi Naadi Oke Katha'' and ''Virata Parvam'' fame, who confirmed the news of Kumar’s death, has expressed extreme grief over the sudden demise of the director.

Parasuram for 'Yuvatha', 'Anjaneyulu', 'Sarocharu' and many more, Kumar Vatti decided to take his next big step as an independent director. It was on that occasion that he came in contact with actor Sree Vishnu, and if he became a director he then decides his hero would definitely be Sree Vishnu. Kumar Vatti was born and brought up in Narasannapeta, Andhra Pradesh. The filmmaker was admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad, a few days ago, after testing positive for coronavirus. Even after getting medical assistance for days, he wasn't able to recover. He is currently working as an associate for Mahesh Babu-starrer ''Sarkaru Vaari Paata'', directed by Parasuram. The news of Kumar Vatti’s death left everyone in a state of shock and started sharing their heartfelt condolences.
Kumar Vatti’s directorial debut ''Maa Abbayi'' starred Sree Vishnu and Chitra Shukla in the lead roles. Balaga Prakash Rao produced the film under the banner of Vennela Creations. ''Maa Abbayi'' follows the story of an ethical hacker whose family dies in a bomb blast decides to hack the identities of all terrorists and kills them in the spot where his family dies. The technical crew of the film comprises Thamashyam for cinematography, Suresh Bobbili for music and Marthand K Venkatesh for editing.
It was reported that writer-director N Sai Balaji Prasad, known for helming Srihari’s Sivaji, and Orey Thammudu and Uday Kiran starrer Jai Sreeram, died of Covid-19 here on April 26. He was 57 and is survived by his wife and a daughter.
