A popular private satellite channel has bagged the television, digital rights of
Mahesh Babu’s ‘
Maharshi
’ for a whopping Rs 20 crores. The package also includes the rights of the dubbing version of the movie, sources suggested.
According to latest reports in the trade, Mahesh Babu’s popularity and the channel’s wide base in the several parts of India and in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana regions were instrumental in the parties closing the deal much in advance. In addition to the factors, Mahesh Babu’s last release ‘Bharat Ane Nenu’ was a good hit and further garnered Rs 100 crore gross and over one million at the international box office which proves the star’s popularity. All these are factors that have upped the expectation levels for ‘Maharshi’.
The movie is being bankrolled by C. Ashwini Dutt, Dil Raju and Prasad V Potluri under the banner Vyjayanthi Movies in association with Sri Venkateswara Creations and PVP Cinema. Directed by Vamsi Paidipally, the film is slated to release on April 5, 2019.
