Director Maruthi Dasari is delighted with the adulation
Mahanubhavudu has not just been received well in India, it is doing well overseas also. “The movie first clicked overseas and made half a million in just four days,” beams Maruthi.
The film runs on the quirky point of the protagonist suffering from OCD and Maruthi claims, many have expressed surprise that a subject like this clicked. “Usually love stories run on same tropes and appeal just to the youth, but many have appreciated me for not going down that route and making a clean family entertainer. What I’ve understood from the success of the film is that the audience is open to new concepts. It has made me hopeful that I can continue to make films on unique themes. I have received more love for the film than I expected,” he says.
Sharwanand, who is revelling in the praise for his portrayal of Anand, believes that the well-etched character with a unique quirk is what brings the film together. “The way the cleanliness obsession of Anand has been portrayed struck a chord with everyone because we all know someone like that.
