Maddy fine with being a cute guy

R Madhavan doesnt mind that tag at all. In a freewheeling chat session he talks about the magic of movies
Maddy fine with being a cute guy
After a hectic shooting stint that took him to Ladakh, London and Lucknow recently, southern heartthrob R Madhavan is now going to be in town to work on his dubbed film (Evaro Okaru).
The actor is in the process of wrapping up Raj Kumar Hiranis 3 Idiots, Tanu Weds Manu (with the superb Kangna Ranaut) and has just started shooting for Leena Yadavs Teen Patti.

Excerpts from an interview.
Youve been a teacher in real life. So did that experience come handy when you played a professor in Teen Patti?
I had to really focus on the role. I also had to get over my infatuation for Ben Kingsley and Amitabh Bachchan, who are my co-actors in the film. Both are legends. Im looking forward to its release in February 2010. I essay the role of an ambitious man with negative shades.
How was it working with Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor in 3 Idiots?
This is my second film with Aamir after Rang De Basanti. Hes so enthusiastic about everything. Kareena is a complete sport. Its a fab team.
Does the cute guy tag bother you?
I think I should get an award for being called the cute guy in the film industry for the longest time! Well, if the audience has decided that I fit the bill, Im not complaining.

Theres buzz that Ram Gopal Varma sold the Tamil film Naan, Aval, Adhu (Nenu Tanu Aame in Telugu) to another company because of creative differences with you?
Let me put it on record, Ive never had a discussion on the film with RGV. So, the question of creative differences doesnt arise.
You are also an animal rights activist.
I am a vegetarian and an animal lover. With my two dogs and an African Grey, my home is a zoo. My parrot is the boss at home. Shes a great mimic, you wouldnt know if its me or her speaking!
Whats your take on Tollywood?
Im impressed with the way the Telugu film industry has shaped up. Many of the Telugu movies seem to be the kind Id want to do. Id love do a Telugu film some day.
