Successfully clearing all the legal hurdles one-by-one,
Ram Gopal Varma’s controversial film ‘Lakshmi’s NTR’ was slated for a massive worldwide release today. However, in what can be called as a last-minute stunner, the
Andhra Pradesh High Court
has
stayed the release
of the film till April 3rd. It has ordered the makers of Lakshmi’s
NTR to host a special screening on that very day and also asked them to be present at the time of screening.
According to sources, the High court had also adjourned further hearing sessions of the petitions filed by two unknown individuals till April 3. Reportedly, the petitioners wanted to halt the film's release till the Lok Sabha and Assembly Elections get wrapped up by April 11th.
In a statement, the counsel for the film’s producer stated that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had already certified the film and also added that the
Telangana High Court refused to stay the film when it was dragged before the judge last week. “We are planning to move House Motion in the Supreme Court and are hoping to secure an order for screening of the movie," their statement read.
However, the film was released as per schedule in Telangana and the overseas.
Lakshmi’s NTR is based on the circumstances towards the end of NTR’s life and is narrated in the perspective of
Lakshmi Parvathi
