Keerthy Suresh to put on some weight to play Savithri in 'Mahanati', a biopic on Savithri by Nag Ashwin

Actress Keerthy Suresh has started shooting for the much hyped biopic on '

Mahanati Savithri

', under the direction of Nag Ashwin.


The movie went on floors recently in Hyderabad and Keerthy took part in the shoot which began with a vintage song.


Sources claim, the actress is asked to put on some weight for filming key scenes of the film, Savithri.


Actress Savithri was a mother of two by the time she was on top of the game and for Keerthy to look the part, she needs to put on some weight.


Director Nag Ashwin was quoted saying to IANS, "The movie will be a magnum opus period film set in the golden era. With massive set pieces, the movie will be unlike anything we've explored in Indian cinema."


To be shot in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam, the movie convincingly has an elaborate cast including Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Dulquer Salman. Dulquer will play the role of Savithri's husband, Gemini Ganesan in the film.

Nag Ashwin's wife Priyanka Dutt is producing the film.
