'Kalki 2898 AD' Day 2 box office collection: collects Rs. 54 crore a 43% dip from opening day

Nag Ashwin's dystopian sci-fi epic, 'Kalki 2898 AD', made a spectacular entry into Indian cinema, garnering one of the highest openings ever. Featuring a star-studded cast including Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani, the film generated immense buzz. However, the box office collection saw a dip on its second day, indicating a small speedbreaker in its journey ahead.

As per a report by Sacnilk, on its second day, 'Kalki 2898 AD' earned Rs 54 crore in India, a significant drop from its impressive Rs 95 crore opening day collection. This represents a decrease of over 43%. The film performed particularly well in its Telugu version, with an occupancy rate of 65.02% on Friday, June 28, 2024. Following Telugu, the film saw viewership in Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam versions.

The enthusiasm for the film seemed to wane on Friday, a regular weekday. However, expectations are high for a rebound over the weekend, which could see a surge in box office numbers. As one of the most expensive films in Indian cinema history, with a budget reportedly around Rs 600 crore, 'Kalki 2898 AD' is anticipated to generate substantial revenue in the coming days.

In the movie, Prabhas and Deepika play the lead roles of Bhairava and Sumati. Amitabh Bachchan takes on the role of The Immortal Ashwatthama, while Kamal Haasan plays the main antagonist, Yaskin.

Set in a dystopian future, 'Kalki 2898 AD' depicts a world oppressed by dark forces. Prabhas's character, Bhairava, is a carefree bounty hunter navigating his way to reach the Complex. Deepika Padukone portrays Sumati, the mother of an unborn child destined to be the liberator and the tenth reincarnation of Lord Vishnu, who is prophesied to free the people from Kalyug.

Amitabh Bachchan's character, Ashwatthama, vows to protect this unborn child, while Kamal Haasan's Yaskin, known as the "Supreme," seeks to eliminate the child to safeguard his rule. Disha Patani also stars as another bounty hunter.

The saga will continue as the makers leave an opening for part 2.
