Jr NTR’s bandhgala at the Oscars is all about an uncaged tiger

In RRR, Jr NTR’s character Bheem, a tribal man, is introduced with an action-packed sequence where he has a face-off with a tiger and almost gets mauled. Then in the interval sequence, the same tiger is brought back when we see NTR jumping out of a cage with the wild cat and a host of other wild animals.

“Jr NTR and I sat down and discussed what his outfit should reflect – we wanted to make a statement,” says his stylist Ashwin Mawle, adding, “It was the designer who decided that it needed to be a jet black velvet fabric. The drama came in the form of the pouncing tiger, in antique gold embroidery, running from his shoulder to the chest. It was a nod to the most iconic moment of his character in RRR. The fact that the tiger is also India’s national animal is something that was important to us. The bandhgala was customised just for him.”

The actor even kept his natural curls. “Right before he left the hotel to head to the Oscars, he added surma to his eyes to add that extra desi touch to the whole look,” Ashwin tells us.
