Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, also known as Sr NTR, was a renowned actor and a politician in the Telugu film industry. The actor, producer as well as director is best known for his charismatic personality, good looks, and groundbreaking performances. Widely acclaimed as one of the finest actors in the history of Indian cinema, he could create some magic on screen with his magnetic personality. In a career spanning more than 4 decades, NTR appeared in more than 200 films. He is considered a cultural icon and holds a matinee idol status in the Telugu diaspora among whom he is popularly adulated as 'Viswa Vikhyatha Nata Sarvabhouma'. Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao’s role as Lord Krishna became an instant hit among the audience in the 1957 film, 'Mayabazar'. Fans still remember the actor for his role and the way he did justice to it. With his great onscreen presence, NTR won the hearts of millions. Directed by KV Reddy, the film stands out due to its powerful performers and intriguing premise.

It is not exaggerated to say that Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao was the first to represent the image of Lord Rama in Tollywood. In 1963, NTR played the role of Lord Rama in 'Lava Kusa'. He became so famous for mythological roles that made him a household name. People even started calling NTR in the name of Lord Rama and even started worshipping him.

Sr NTR showed his amazing acting skills in Shankar Kamalakara Kameswara Rao's mythological drama 'Nartanasala', where he essentially played both Arjuna and Brihannala. The film, which won the National Film Award for Second Best Feature Film, was praised for its unique concept and NTR’s brilliant performance, especially as Brihannala.

Although Sr NTR mainly established himself as the protagonist, he also proved that he can ace negative characters with ease. In 'Bhookailas', he the iconic role of demon-king Ravan, which proved to be a blessing in disguise as its popularity among the masses increased manifold. He took everyone by surprise by portraying the role of Ravana and won hearts with his amazing screen presence.

In the 1977 film 'Daana Veera Soora Karna', Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao played not one, not two, but three characters, including the main character Karna, Lord Krishna and Duryodhana. Playing the major roles, NTR gained positive reviews from the audience. The diction he used to transform himself into three different characters was widely praised by the critics.
