Jr. NTR once said he won't pressurize his kids to carry the 'Nandamuri' legacy: 'Too much of history is not good for kids'
Jr NTR has become a pan-India star coming from the illustrious Nandamuri family. He carries forward a legacy shaped by his legendary grandfather Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR), his father Nandamuri Harikrishna, his uncle Balakrishna, his brother Kalyanram, and now his cousin Mokshagna Teja. Yet, despite the weight of this cinematic lineage, Jr NTR once made it clear that he doesn't want to force his children into following the same path.
In 2024, during an interview with the Associated Press, Jr. NTR opened up about his views on legacy and parenting. Contrary to what is said, that the star kids are often pushed into films, the 'RRR' actor revealed that his own journey into cinema was never the result of pressure. "I was a national-level badminton player and a professional classical dancer who toured the country. I've seen my share of the world. I've been allowed to make mistakes that have been corrected with my family's guidance," he said, recalling his early years.
Before making his debut as a lead actor in 'Ninnu Choodalani,' Jr NTR began as a child artiste in 'Brahmarshi Viswamitra' and 'Ramayanam' in the 1990s. He shared that acting was something he chose, not something that was imposed upon him, and he wants to extend that same freedom to his children, Abhay and Bhargav.
Speaking about his vision as a father, Jr. NTR said, "Too much of history is not good for kids. I want to be an example to them to have a journey of their own. I want to give them an opportunity to explore, rather than rubbing it on them. They need to decide for themselves."
The actor revealed that his sons are currently pursuing a stage career because of the lifestyle they have grown accustomed to. But he insists that it has to be their choice or not the family's past.
Jr NTR made his highly anticipated Bollywood debut in the recently released action thriller, 'War 2,' co-starring with Hrithik Roshan and Kiara Advani. As per Sacnilk, the movie has minted over Rs 235.1 crore domestically in 19 days. 'War 2' received mostly mixed reviews.
He is currently working on his next film with 'KGF' and 'Salaar' director Prashanth Neel, which is rumored to be titled 'Dragon.' Later he will also work on the sequel of his 2024 film, 'Devara' directed by Koratala Siva.
