Jagan Mohan Reddy and how he delved into politics after the demise of his father, YSR.
The movie stars Jiiva in the role of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and Mammooty in the role of YS Rajasekhar Reddy.
Jiiva, who was initially thinking that the concept of the film was very heavy, thought to decline the offer, but after watching 'Yatra' decided to play the lead in the sequel to the film.
In an interview with India Today, Jiiva explained that he was initially sceptical as it was a political film, but after the narration, he was taken back and was interested in the role. He said that the lines spoken by his role in the film gave him a view of being an actor and being a good actor. Jiiva thanked Director Mahi for his confidence in him.
Jiiva in the interview also stressed that, though he resembled YS Jagan Mohan Reddy a lot, it was difficult to pull off the role as it was a language that he wasn't familiar with. The actor also said that while researching more about the politics in Andhra Pradesh, he did not delve deep into it much and just went in as a naive actor and performed according to what the story required.
Speaking about the movie 'Yatra 2', Jiiva revealed that the film is more of an emotional story than a political story, as it is about a person who passed away and people viewed him as a demi-god. Jiiva also stressed being happy to work with Mollywood super star Mammooty. He revealed that he met the actor back in 2001 on the sets of the Tamil film 'Anandham', which was produced by his father. He said that he met him after 20 long years for 'Yatra 2' and had a good time talking to him. Jiiva also explained that his talks with
Mamooty were thought-provoking when they discussed their role in the film and whether they would get into any trouble for playing politicians. The young actor said that Mamooty said what problems they could face and that they were just actors.
