The makers of the Ram Charan starrer ‘Peddi’ directed by Buchi Baba Sana held a success meet as the flick enjoys roaring success at the box office. However, the film’s female lead Janhvi Kapoor was missing from the event amid backlash over her character’s portrayal in the film.

Her absence from the event became a talking point on the internet. However, Janhvi stayed away from the event and made no public comments about her decision.

Speaking of the success meet held in Hyderabad, Ram Charan interacted with the audience and thanked them for the love and support to the film. Director Buchi Babu Sana and other team members were also present. Veteran actor Jagapathi Babu, who played an important role in the movie, also addressed the gathering.According to the Free Press Journal, Ram Charan reportedly did not mention Janhvi Kapoor while thanking the cast and crew during the event.Before the film's release, a report by Deccan Chronicle suggested that Janhvi Kapoor might not take part in promotions because of her role. It was also said that the makers left the decision up to her.Despite those earlier reports, the actress actively participated in the film’s promotions and travelled to different cities before the release.
However, after criticism over her character began circulating online, the actress became inactive on social media and has not publicly responded to the issue.

‘Peddi’ controversy

For the unversed, the film is drawing heat over Janhvi Kapoor’s portrayal, as the camera largely focused on her body rather than her character, leading to criticism that the makers objectified her. Following the backlash, the makers shared a clarification and issued an apology. They also announced trimming the necessary shots.Speaking of ‘Peddi’, the film includes Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyenndu and Boman Irani in key roles, with music by A. R. Rahman.
