‘Irrespective of the budget, it’s the content of the film that will make or break it’

Producer Abhishek Nama has had a very busy fortnight what with two of his films, Saakshaym and

Goodachari

(which he co-produced) releasing back-to-back on July 27 and August 3 respectively. Conceptually, both films, released under Abhishek Pictures banner, were as different as chalk and cheese. While the Bellamkonda Sreenivas-Pooja Hegde-starrer,

Saakshyam

created quite a buzz for being a supernatural thriller, Adivi Sesh’s Goodachari on the other hand made waves for being a first-of-its kind spy drama. The films are a reflection of Abhishek’s operating principle: Content is King. “People don’t want the same old stories these days; they crave for novel content. So it is imperative to experiment with scripts. Irrespective of the budget, it is the content the film that will make or break it,” he says, adding, “Saakshyam and Goodachari are based on concepts that were never seen before seen in Telugu cinema. Saakshyam, based on the concept of five elements, the pancha bhootalu, is intriguing. And Goodachari set a new benchmark for spy thrillers in Tollywood.”

Even with previous productions like Babu Baga Busy, remake of Hunterrr (2015) and Keshava (2017), Abhishek Pictures has carved a niche for itself as a production house that never compromises on production values. “For me content comes first. I don’t believe in holding back on quality when the script demands it. If the content requires lavishness, I’m more than happy to spend,” he says. Abhishek has two more interesting
projects lined up. “One is a love story set in Varanasi, and the second one will be announced soon,” he says, signing off.
