Miss Kerala 2010 Indu Thampi makes her debut into movies with actress Ambikas maiden directorial venture, AnabelaThe year 2010 not only fetched Indu Thampi her crown to success but opened to her the doors to a new career of acting. The days after completing her Bachelors in Arts, Miss Kerala 2010 Indu Thampi and her sister Reshmi Thampi participated in the contest just for the fun of it.
Walking on the principles of just being herself worked very well for this beauty who with her efforts, talents, beauty and persona bagged the title.
The months that followed gave her more feathers to add to her cap. South Indian actress Ambikas directorial debut Anabela, scripted by her brother Suresh Nair, offered Indu her first opening into films. Anabela is a romantic thriller and I play the title role, says Indu.
Sharing her experience working with the cast and crew of Anabela, she says, Since most of us were newcomers there was no ego or superiority complex amongst us. All of us wanted to make this movie a success.
She believes that Ambika was very helpful and supportive to her as a director and as an actor. It was she who helped her out in mastering the techniques of controlling the breath while delivering dialogues, giving proper reaction to each dialogue and the movements.
Indu admits that despite being a point-of-view shot film facing the camera was indeed tough for her. I could see my own reflection on the camera lens. I felt very uncomfortable when I felt that the camera did not emote back when I was looking into it delivering my dialogue, she says.
Though her life and career strode for a major renovation, Indu claims that she has not changed much. I am not changed after winning the Miss Kerala title and the film offers on my lap. I am still the same Indu Thampi, she says.
But physically there has been a transformation. And Indu gives the reason. I went to the gym to keep my weight stable but I ended up losing weight. But now she is trying to gain weight for her character in her next movie, Fathers Day, directed by Kalavoor Ravikumar. Indu plays the role of a village girl in the movie.
If given an opportunity Indu would love to try her luck in singing. A trained classical singer she used to actively participate and win prizes at various competitions at her school.
Kalavoor Ravikumars Fathers Day starring Lal, Revathi, Shehin and Rasul Pookutty, and Sujith and Sajith Thambis Oru Cinema Kadha Pole starring Indrajith are her future projects which would be due for release by 2012.
