Navy Day is annually celebrated on December 4 to commemorate the attack of Operation Trident on the Karachi harbour during the India-Pakistan war in 1971. On this very day in 1971, a squadron of Osa-I missile-boats stealthily approached the Karachi harbour and joining forces with two Petya class Frigates, they launched a barrage of guided-missiles which sank four Pakistan vessels and blockaded the port of Karachi.
