Vijaya Nirmala, 73, passed away early hours on Thursday, following a brief hospitalization. Actor HE Dr Naresh VK confirmed her mother passing on social media.
She was admitted to Continental Hospitals, Gachibowli on June 26, after became sick following a treatment session. She was on a ventilator, according to hospital sources.
Born on February 20, 1946, in Tamil Nadu, Vijaya Nirmala made her screen debut with Machcha Rekhai (1950) where she has starred as a child artist. She was seven. She forayed into the Telugu film industry with Panduranga Mahatmyam (1957). Before becoming the producer, she set up a production banner
Vijaya Krishna Movies
and bankrolled 15 films. Afterwards, she made her directorial debut in Telugu with 1971 film
Meena, which was a super hit. She has helmed 44 films in a career span of forty years.
Vijaya Nirmala has directed several memorable films including Meena, Kavitha, Rowdy Rangamma, Moodu Puvvulu Aaru Kayalu, Hema Hemeelu, Bhogi Mantalu, Collector Vijaya, Sahasame Naa Oopiri and many more to her credit.

Vijaya Nirmala is survived by his son Naresh and husband, Ghattamaneni Krishna. Her family will lay Vijaya Nirmala's remains at his home from 11 am today where the public can pay their respects. The film fraternity will shift it to the film chamber on Friday, and they will hold the funeral on the same day.
